In the past week, the thermometer in my car has been showing temperatures that are teetering over 40°C, which can only mean one thing: the Dubai summer has officially arrived. One advantage to the scorching temperatures is that we can finally venture out in typically tropical hues that are only appropriate in the warmer months. Colored mascaras are great for adding a pop of color to your makeup without delving too deeply into the rainbow abyss, and they’re a simple and effective way of emphasizing your natural eye color. Purple will make green eyes shine, while bronze or copper shades will brighten blue eyes.
As an avid fan of colored lash enhancers and Dior makeup in general, I was excited to see the brand’s latest lash-plumping offering land on the Savoir Flair beauty desk. The Dior Addict It-Lash mascara comes in It-Purple, It-Blue, It-Black, and an unexpected shade of It-Pink. Aside from the bright new shades, the It-Lash just works well as a mascara. The formula is smooth and doesn’t flake, while the thick brush makes application quick and easy. One notable feature is the brush’s spiked end, which allows you to reach the tiniest of corner lashes and simplifies lower-lash application.
For a daytime-appropriate look, the purple shade is the most versatile of the bunch. Though the color is rich and elegant, it’s most noticeable when the sun hits your eyes. The electric blue really pops against brown eyes. I paired it with a thick wing of black liner, which was bold but didn’t seem too over the top. Perhaps the most avant-garde option is the hot pink, which admittedly isn’t a go-to mascara shade for most, but I found it could add a flattering contemporary touch to a makeup look. Apply it to just the lower lashes or the tips of upper lashes for a subtler look.
