Following the dark years of the Second World War, ‘Miss Dior’ was born in 1947 out of the tremendous desire to, once again, pour magic and love into the lives of women. Similarly, as the world (gradually) reemerges out of its battle with a deadly virus, the creative noses at Dior unveil a fresh iteration of the Maison’s signature fragrance. More spectacular than ever before, the new ‘Miss Dior’ was devised to add a heavy dose of joy into our lives. The floral scent was formulated with an aspiration to stir emotions and awaken the wearer to the beauty surrounding their life.
With a fragrant bouquet blossoming with every spritz, the enchanting new ‘Miss Dior’, composed by famed nose François Demachy, honors Monsieur Dior’s favorite flower – the rose. In fact, it was the discovery of an unknown rose – the ‘Sweet Love’ rose – in the garden of Carole Biancalana in the spring of 2020 that became the starting point for the new ‘Miss Dior’ Eau de Parfum.
Speaking about the new perfume, Demachy says, “The Sweet Love rose, whose name suits it so well, was a discovery for me. First of all, I thought it looked particularly beautiful with its generous petals in a beautiful, iridescent, pale, pearly pink. Then its perfume took me by surprise – what a spirit, what an enveloping and exuberant power with its unexpected, lively, fruity-sweet touches. It was the creative starting point for this new Eau de Parfum. I wanted to surround it with flowers and thereby obtain a bouquet that was both vivid and elegant, sensual yet weightless.”
A rich floral symphony housed in a bottle, the reimagined ‘Miss Dior’ Eau de Parfum is an enthralling composition made using the extracts from sensual Centifolia roses, joyful lilies, charming peonies, notes of apricot, and an elegant iris. Hints of musks, vanilla, Benzoin, and Tonka bean mingle with a creamy note of sandalwood that envelops the base.
The exquisite new ‘Miss Dior’ Eau de Parfum bottle comes with a few centimeters of couture wrapped around her neck. The rectangular perfume bottle is adorned with an exceptional ribbon, which was meticulously made in the secretive ateliers of one of the biggest ribbon makers in France, dedicated for decades to making creations for Haute Couture shows.
The stunning jacquard ribbon that dresses the new ‘Miss Dior’ bottle is woven from around 396 threads, with every centimeter containing some 12,000 thread crossings. Every jacquard ribbon is garnished with minuscule pastel flowers, proving that despite being a few centimeters long, Dior gave as much time and attention to these ribbons as those adorning couture gowns.
To celebrate the launch of the new ‘Miss Dior’ Eau de Parfum, Dior worked with director Manu Cossu on a special film starring Natalie Portman. In the film, Dior celebrates the type femininity that is liberated from constraints, as Portman embodies the confident, strong-willed, and free ‘Miss Dior’.
