Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be blessed with genuinely healthy, glowing skin that gives you the confidence to step out sans make-up? I have. Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? It did to me too. That was until I tried for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s favorite iS Clinical ‘Fire and Ice’ facial. It’s safe to say that I am now living my (skincare) dream.

To put things in context, it was a few obsessive Google searches and a skincare rabbit hole that endowed me with the knowledge that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s go-to facial treatment is, in fact, available right here in Dubai. Naturally, I took Rosie’s word for it and booked my appointment at Aesthetics International in Jumeirah. While I thought I knew what to expect (from my Google research, of course) what followed came as a (very delightful) surprise.

I can’t help but steal quick glances at myself in the mirror (perks of working from home) as I write this because no matter how much I stare, I genuinely cannot believe my eyes – or hands. How can a 50-minute facial leave me with skin so soft and radiant that it can rival that of a newborn? No, seriously, 50 minutes is all it takes.

The best-selling treatment at the Four Seasons, Beverly Hills for over a decade, the iS Clinical ‘Fire and Ice’ facial’s fan club includes Hollywood A-listers like Jessica AlbaGwyneth PaltrowRosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Kate Bosworth. But what exactly is this secret beauty weapon that celebrities swear by?

Understanding the iS Clinical 'Fire and Ice' Facial

The iS Clinical ‘Fire and Ice’ facial is a non-invasive, safe skin resurfacing treatment designed to deeply cleanse the dermis, encourage cell renewal, target skin issues, and reduce fine lines. The multi-step facial uses a mild peel (fire) and several layers of hydration, including a soothing mask (ice) to deliver an envious glow. The treatment uses a total of eight products to rejuvenate and hydrate the skin.

The very first product the facialist used on my face was the iS Clinical ‘Cleansing Complex.’ As she wiped traces of makeup off my face, she informed me that except for being extremely parched, my skin is otherwise quite healthy. “Wow, what a relief,” I remember thinking out loud. Next, she applied the ‘Intensive Resurfacing Masque’ – formulated using botanical acids, retinol, and niacin, antioxidants, and kaolin clay – a.k.a. the “fire” bit of the facial.

While applying the mask, she made me aware that I might feel a burning sensation and asked me to inform her should I find it unbearable. “I can barely feel it,” I replied. That was, however, about to change. I started to feel the intense burning sensation on my face. Upon informing my facialist, she assured me the sensation was absolutely normal and that it just meant that the mask was doing its thing – and that it did.

You’ve been warned: this part of the facial might feel intense. How did I survive it? Knowing that the treatment was being carried out under the supervision of an expert helped calm any anxious feelings that came up. The facialist was also kind enough to inform me that there was no redness on my skin and that I had nothing to worry about.

After wiping off the “fire” mask with the ‘Cleansing Complex’, she proceeded to apply a thick layer of the ‘Rejuvenating Masque’, a.k.a. the “ice.” Rich in hydrating ingredients like aloe vera, rosemary extract, green tea extract, and hyaluronic acid, the “ice” mask was soothing, to say the least. As I lay there with my eyes closed, I pictured my skin’s thirst finally being quenched by the nourishing mask. Two weeks later, I have no doubt that it did. Dry, flaky, parched skin is now history.

After leaving the mask on for about 10 minutes, she wiped it off and applied a series of nourishing hydrators onto my freshly exfoliated skin, including the ‘Youth Eye Complex,’ the ‘Pro-Heal Serum Advance +,’ the ‘Hydra-Cool Serum,’  ‘Reparative Moisture Emulsion’, and the ‘Eclipse SPF 50+’ sunscreen.

By this time, my excitement had peaked. I was beyond eager to peep into the mirror and see the result of the celebrity-approved facial treatment. “Wow,” I stared open-mouthed at my reflection. I’ll be honest, I expected the treatment to be great, of course. But I had not the faintest expectation for it to be this effective. I was gleaming as I had never before. My skin felt like that of a dolphin’s – it was dramatically soft and more radiant than ever before.

It’s been two weeks since my ‘Fire and Ice’ facial treatment and (surprise, surprise) I am still glowing like an infant.
