If you’re anything like us, adjusting to lockdown hasn’t been easy. Insomnia may be keeping you up for the better part of the night, uncertainty might be twisting your stomach into complicated knots of anxiety. Your eating patterns might have altered erratically. You might have a house full of restless kids, a sink full of dishes (where did those come from?), and work meetings that won’t stop – even while the rest of the world has ground to a halt.

Faced with the hurdles of unexpected domesticity, your mornings might feel out of control, too. Feeding your household while getting yourself ready for the day’s first round of Zoom video-conferences might seem like an impossible feat. Or maybe it’s simpler than that. Maybe you just overslept? We’ve all been there. Regardless of your situation, we’re here to strip down your routine to ensure that you get video-chat ready in 10 minutes or less. Timers at the ready.

Face

If we’re relying on the premise that you’re in a frantic rush to get logged in for the meeting on time, you’re going to have to skip most of your morning routine and take some shortcuts. The first is to give your face a once-over with a makeup wipe and then splash some cold water, pressing the heels of your hands into your eyes to help depuff them quickly. Next comes an extra-hydrating moisturizer – just because your beauty look is going to be mostly makeup-free doesn’t mean your skin shouldn’t be glowing.

When it comes to beauty, there are some products you just can’t live without, and they differ for every person. Narrow it down to two must-haves. For us, it’s eyebrows and lips, for you it might be mascara and blush. Proceed accordingly. Pro tip: if you want to distract from tired eyes or a breakout, a strong lip will draw attention to your mouth. And keep it there.

Hair

Who knows how many days it’s been since you last washed your hair? We don’t judge. The name of this game is getting ready fast, no matter the state your hair is in. Enter: Oribe’s ‘Dry Texturizing Spray’. Not only will this ingenious cult product freshen up your roots instantly, but it also works better than any dry shampoo on the market – and smells lovely, too. Beauty editors, supermodels, and hairstylists alike swear by this one, and you’ll soon see why.

To use, simply spray on your roots or all over, let it dry for about one minute, and then fluff your hair up with your fingertips. If you’ve added too much, you can brush it through to break up any stiffness. Alternatively, you can go the ultra-lazy-girl route and tie your hair up in a cute bun or ponytail. Ideally, whatever way you go, your hair should take under two minutes to handle.

Finishing Touches

If you want to look put-together quickly, statement jewelry can freshen you up in a matter of seconds. A dangly pair of earrings or a chic necklace (remember anything from the neck down is not important when it comes to video calls) paired with a fresh-from-the-closet top will make it look like you’ve planned your morning around the meeting – even if that isn’t exactly true. The good news here? You can still keep your pajama pants on.
