While we love looking to London Fashion Week for the latest in bold beauty trends, it never helped in our quest to find a gorgeous makeup look that we can actually wear during our next big night out – until Temperley London’s FW20 presentation took place, that is. A gorgeous palette of golds and bronze teamed with glowing skin and red lips, it was sexy, chic, and oh-so-romantic.
The combination is as classic as it is modern – hardly surprising seeing as it was created by Sofia Schwarzkopf-Tilbury, niece and protégé of Charlotte Tilbury herself. “Alice [Temperley] has always been into that red carpet glamour look. This makeup was inspired by the world of dance – jazz, tap, and swing – and Old Hollywood glamour,” she revealed to our Beauty Editor-at-Large backstage. Whilst watching Schwarzkopf-Tilbury working her makeup magic behind the scenes, we uncovered the secrets to the stunning beauty look and found out which products you’ll need to recreate it yourself. You’re welcome.
Nothing says runway-ready glamour more than a radiant glow, which is why each model was prepped to perfection with Charlotte Tilbury’s iconic ‘Magic Cream’ (which was actually created backstage to instantly transform models’ skin) and ‘Magic Eye Rescue’. When it came to the base, it was all about keeping things “really fresh”, achieved with a light layer of the ‘Light Wonder Foundation’ and ‘Hollywood Flawless Filter’ on the high points of the face.
To create a subtle contour and a natural-looking rosy flush, the brand new ‘Pillow Talk Beauty Light Wands’ – which come in a golden hue and a more pinky shade – were pressed onto cheeks and buffed in with a brush to create a beautiful, glowing effect. Needless to say, we can’t wait to get our hands on those…

Eyes were coated with a gorgeous layer of shimmering gold for the ultimate show-stopping stare. First, Schwarzkopf-Tilbury used the creamy ‘Eyes to Mesmerise in Bette’ to create a gold wash of color on the entire lid. Next, depending on the model, she took one of the three shimmery shades from the new ‘Queen of Glow Luxury Palette’ and pressed it onto the middle of the eye to create a spotlight effect.
This trick, according to her, made “blue eyes looked brighter and bluer, and brown eyes greener”. This was followed by classic feline flicks created using both a kohl and a liquid liner to make them really defined, before adding a few individual lashes to create dazzling, flirty flutters.
No beauty look inspired by Hollywood glamour is complete without a red power pout, but – in true Tilbury style – this was no ordinary rouge lip. “We created a halo effect on the lips, which is such a big trend at the moment and makes them look bigger,” Schwarzkopf-Tilbury told us. “We used a dark red on the outside and highlighted the center with an orange-red hue.”
Again, each lip color was tailored to complement the skin tone of the model. Some wore the ‘Lip Cheat’ liner in ‘Savage Rose’ and others in ‘Kiss ‘N’ Tell’, which weren’t just used to line the lips, but fill them in completely, too. Pouts were then given a slick of ‘Red Carpet Red’ lipstick before Schwarzkopf-Tilbury pressed ‘Tell Laura’ into the center to create that 3D, spotlight effect.
Is this our next date-night beauty look? We think so.
