Just when we thought the beauty looks of 2020’s awards season couldn’t possibly get any better, the Oscars happened. The stars took to the red carpet at the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, rocking everything from classic red lips and cool cat-eyes to bold new bangs and some of the most elegant updos we’ve ever seen. In honor of the beauty looks that deserve an award of their own, we’re rolling out the red carpet and celebrating them all, here.
Lily Aldridge
Classic beauty at its best, Lily Aldridge proved that red lips, softly waved locks, and simple eye makeup is always a winner.
Zazie Beetz
We weren’t just lusting after Zazie Beetz’s stunning emerald and diamond jewels, but her perfect smoky eye and on-point ‘fro, too. Her backstage beauty secret? The Nexxus ‘Comb Thru’ finishing mist, which hairstylist Lacy Redway revealed was the key to keeping her locks in place.
Billie Eilish
In true Billie Eilish style, the singer took a head-to-toe classic Chanel ensemble and gave it a punky edge with her signature two-toned black and green locks and statement talons, complete with crystal detailing. She did surprise us by ditching her usual red carpet sunglasses – but it is the Oscars, after all.
Kaitlyn Dever
Teaming her sweeping side part and its sleek finish with flawless feline flicks, actress Kaitlyn Dever gave red carpet veterans a run for their money, despite it being her first-ever appearance at the Oscars.
Janelle Monáe
Bringing major disco ball vibes with her floor-length silver gown by Ralph Lauren – complete with a sparkly hood – Janelle Monáe turned up the heat with a bright red lip and silver adorned eyes. Yaas.
Penelope Cruz
Hung Vanngo worked his makeup magic on Penelope Cruz, creating the bronze smoky eye of dreams. And, to answer our prayers, he took to Instagram to reveal the key products he used to create the look: the Lancôme ‘Hypnôse 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette in Terre de Sienne’, ‘L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipstick in Coeur de Rubis’, and the ‘Star Bronzer in Sunkiss’. #addtocart
Saoirse Ronan
Debuting blunt new bangs softened with pastel lilac-washed eyes, Saoirse Ronan sported a soft, pretty look that had a hint of edge thanks to her cool new ‘do.
Florence Pugh
It was all about “boy brows & super-simple makeup” on Florence Pugh, thanks to makeup artist Alex Babsky. Armed with Pat McGrath products, he created a flawless base and soft eyes with the ‘Sublime Perfect Foundation’, ‘Skin Fetish Highlighter’, and ‘Mothership VII Divine Rose Palette’. As for that perfect mauve pout? All down to the ‘Femme Bot Mattetrance Lipstick’.
Natalie Portman
If there was ever a look to make us want to reach for the scissors and chop off our locks, this is it. Natalie Portman wore her lob lightly waved while keeping her makeup classic with a smudged brown eye.
Salma Hayek
Salma Hayek looked gorgeous in her Grecian-inspired look, complete with an elegant updo, stunning silver hair accents, and beautifully bronzed skin.
Charlize Theron
Two words to describe Charlize Theron at the Oscars? Sleek and chic. Donning a dreamy Dior Couture gown and clean beauty look, she proved that less really is more.
Margot Robbie
After prepping her skin to perfection with Chanel’s ‘Hydra Beauty Micro Sérum’ and ‘La Solution 10 de Chanel’, makeup artist Pati Dubroff gave Margot Robbie the perfect red pout to complement her flawless face.
Scarlett Johansson
With her golden shimmery lids, high-shine glossy lips, and radiant skin, Scarlett Johansson brought a touch of makeup magic to the red carpet.
Lucy Boynton
Queen-of-the-flash-lash Lucy Boynton didn’t disappoint with her 60s-esque spidery lashes, flaunting long falsies on both her top and bottom lashes. But let’s be honest, it was her pearl-adorned parting that we couldn’t get enough. You know what we’ll be wearing in our hair this weekend…
Gal Gadot
We saw another red-lipped look on Gal Gadot, but the actress opted for a more orange-y hue to keep things fresh and modern, all perfectly complemented by her slicked-back locks.
Lea Seydoux
French beauty Lea Seydoux screamed Hollywood siren with her elegantly coiffed hair, creamy skin, and subtly defined eyes and lips. Not to mention her on-point brows, which were brushed up and groomed to perfection.
Regina King
Regina King shut down the red carpet with her jaw-dropping beauty look, sending the internet into a frenzy after makeup artist Latrice Johnson revealed that those long, show-stopping lashes cost just $6, courtesy of Ardell’s ‘Double Up Wispies’.
Rooney Mara
Rooney Mara did what she does best, teaming a black Gothic-inspired gown with a severe pulled-back bun, bold brows, and a deep berry-stained lip. Love.
