Nothing says winter more than a sprinkling of snow, which is why Chanel’s chalet-inspired setting made for the perfect Fall/Winter 2019 backdrop. Models took to the snow-capped runway accompanied by the sound of tinkling icicles and – of course – a beauty look that left them looking like they’d just spent a day on the slopes.
“The makeup was very fresh with a strong masculine touch in the groomed and defined brows,” describes Lucia Pica, Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup and Color Director. “The girls were meant to look fresh, having been in a cold snowy day at the Chalet Gardenia.” This meant glowing skin, bare eyes and lips, and lots of blush. Read on to discover the key Chanel beauty products that were used and how to get the chic après-ski look yourself.
After prepping your skin (cleanse, tone, moisturize), apply a light layer of the new ‘Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint’ foundation. Its revolutionary formula features patented microfluidics and micro-droplets of oil to create a nude-skin finish that’s natural and luminous. This is “no-makeup makeup” at its best, making it the perfect product to create the radiance needed for this look. The only problem? You have to wait until April 1st before you can get your hands on it.
Next, conceal any blemishes and discoloration with the ‘Correcteur Perfection’ concealer before dusting skin with a touch of the ‘Poudre Universelle Libre’ to provide a sheer, lightweight veil of coverage and keep your makeup looking fresher for longer. Finish by using the multitasking ‘La Palette Essentielle’. It features a bronzer to contour, a red blush, and a shimmery shade to strobe, so it’s amazing for sculpting and adding a fresh-off-the-slopes glow. But for that snowy day flush, a pop of blush is key, so use a generous sweep of the ‘Joues Contraste in Quintessence’ on the apples of your cheeks and use circular motions to blend it upwards and outwards.
Subtly define the eyes by using the ‘Les 4 Ombres in Clair-Obscur’, leaving your lashes bare and natural. Give your eyebrows a boost by defining them with light, upward strokes using a long-wear brow pencil before brushing them and setting them in place with a few strokes of the ‘Le Gel Sourcils’ brow gel.
Leave your lips natural and bare, with just a touch of the ‘Rouge Coco Baume’ to load them up with moisture for a soft, plump pout.
