Fashion Week might have come to a close, but we’re still dreaming of the beauty looks created backstage by Pat McGrath. Not only is this makeup legend solely responsible for creating the looks at 80 fashion shows each year, but she is also the woman who sets the trends and determines the beauty rules for seasons to come. Who else could convince us to embrace glittery eyelids and golden pouts?

Unsurprisingly, her most daring makeup looks have long been imitated by fashion labels, beauty brands, and regular women the world over. This season, as expected, we saw the makeup artist bring her creativity and vision to the Spring/Summer 2019 runways with true artistic flair and mind-blowing genius. Discover six of her most sensational looks, below, as we pay tribute to the makeup magician that is Pat McGrath.

Prada

McGrath’s look for Prada got us all excited for many reasons. For one, she made clumpy, spider lashes look cool. We also want to deliberately smudge mascara onto our eyelids now – who thought mascara imprints on your eyes could look that good? But what made the ears of Savoir Flair staffers perk up was the secret to next season’s hottest lash look: her brand new ‘Fetish Eyes’ mascara, which will launch in February 2019. Is it next year yet?

Paco Rabanne

Dewy skin and a glossy eye translates to a makeup match made in heaven. McGrath kept things clean and simple at Paco Rabanne, using a slick of her ‘Lip Fetish Sheer Colour Balm in Succexy’ on lips and ‘Skin Fetish’ on the skin, which she created specially to make skin look like it’s glowing from within. We salute you, McGrath.

Versace

Forget your usual black liner when it comes to creating a cat-eye because, after seeing McGrath’s stunning winged look at Versace, we’re all for adding a shimmery slick of color. Using a metallic teal shade to create oversized geometric wings, she kept skin and lips simple to really make the eyes stand out – fierce flick is an understatement.

Valentino

We’ve lost count of how many times we watched this clip from Valentino, and who can blame us? No Fashion Week is complete without a glittery look from McGrath, and she didn’t disappoint when it came to the seriously extra look she created. Dubbing her sparkly creation as “extravagant beauty”, she adorned eyes with hand-applied Swarovski crystals alongside lips coated with a cherry-red glitter from her iconic ‘Lust 004 Kits’. It’s officially time to get your glitter on.

Dolce & Gabbana

You can always trust Dolce & Gabbana to bring the essence of romance and a touch of decadence to the runway, and no one does decadence quite like McGrath. This season’s beauty look was (naturally) a continuation of the classic, almost Renaissance-esque makeup reinterpreted season after season – a combination of a feline flick with red lips here, a touch of burnished gold there. It may be simple, but it’s so, so far from boring.

Burberry

Burberry entered a new era this season, with new chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci switching things up both on and off the runway. Backstage saw a new beauty team take the helm, with McGrath replacing Wendy Rowe as the brand’s makeup designer. Although the very British ‘Burberry beauty aesthetic’ was still very much in play with models displaying natural skin and a palette of nude tones, McGrath brought something new to the table by adding moments of unexpected color and shapes, including the khaki winged liner spotted on Jourdan Dunn and a fiery red lip spotted on Lily Donaldson – only McGrath would dare burst the Burberry beauty bubble.
