Whether you use a combination of all-natural ingredients during a DIY pampering session or indulge in just one during your weekly ritual, the benefits will become apparent almost immediately. The recipe for beautiful skin lies in just five basic ingredients – avocado, tea tree oil, coconut oil, green-tea extract, and oatmeal. All five are available at your local supermarket or health-food store, playing a starring role in clear pores, firm skin, and a healthy glow that lasts. Read on to discover Savoir Flair’s favorite all-natural skin saviors.

1

Tea Tree Oil

With antiseptic and pore-cleansing properties, tea tree oil is great if you suffer from frequent breakouts. Used as a cleanser, it helps open clogged pores, clears bacteria from the skin’s surface, and removes dead cells without causing any harm. The oil also works as an antioxidant because it controls the free radicals in the body and boosts the production of collagen, ensuring your skin remains youthful!

How to use: Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with fresh aloe vera gel, apply to your skin, and wash off after an hour. This type of oil can also help control dandruff – simply mix a few drops in warm water and use as a rinse after shampooing and conditioning to keep flakes at bay.

2

Avocado

Rich in vitamin A and glutamine, avocado moisturizes, repairs, and nourishes the skin and hair. It’s packed with phytonutrients, which give skin that gorgeous, healthy glow.

How to use: Mash one or two avocados and add honey or an essential oil. Apply to the skin and leave on for 20 to 30 minutes, then wash off with warm water.

Oatmeal

Porridge is packed with anti-inflammatory properties and contains saponins, which act as a cleansing agent, moisturizer, and an exfoliant. It’s especially effective on oilier skin.

How to use: Mix some ground oatmeal with lime juice, rosewater, and an egg white before applying it to your face. Rinse after 20 minutes.

4

Coconut Oil

This is one of the best and easily procured natural moisturizers. It has a unique ability to penetrate the skin – both on the scalp and body – due to its small molecular size. Upon application, it replenishes the moisture in the upper layers of the skin due to the presence of lauric acid. It also boasts nourishing and anti-aging properties – and smells pretty good too!

How to use: Lightly massage some coconut oil all over your body before you step into the shower. It will keep your skin hydrated even after you’ve used soap or shower gel. Coconut oil also carries great benefits for the hair – lightly massaging it in for ten minutes before you shampoo is the ticket to shiny, luscious locks.

Green-Tea Extract

Green-tea extract contains tannin, which acts as a soothing agent on skin. The polyphenols and alkaloid caffeine in green tea make it a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant, and research shows that it also protects skin against damage caused by UV radiation. The result? Less signs of aging and an overall slowing down of the aging process. Dream.

How to use: Brew some green tea, chill it, and then use as a toner. It can also be mixed with oatmeal and honey, and used as a soothing and hydrating face mask for all skin types. Simply leave on for 30 minutes before washing off.
