Chanel’s Fall 2018 Couture show took us straight to the heart of Paris, with Karl Lagerfeld paying homage to his beloved home city and the breathtaking views seen from his famous apartment. With a set perfectly capturing the energy and buzz of a typical promenade, complete with the stalls that line the banks of the river and the city’s soaring streetlights, it was pure Parisian perfection.
Backstage, dream duo Tom Pecheux and Sam McKnight created a magical mermaid-esque beauty look that saw emerald green and gold glitter flecks used in homage to the sparkling Seine River, while hair was styled in cool “rockabilly rolls”. Read on to discover the key Chanel products that were used, so you can recreate the look yourself.
After properly prepping (cleansing, toning, and moisturizing) your skin, apply a light layer of the ‘Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation’ using the ‘Pinceau Estompe Teint’ foundation brush. It does exactly what its name suggests: gives skin a gorgeous, healthy glow whilst protecting it with UV filters and kalanchoe extract. Next, conceal any blemishes and discoloration with the ‘Le Correcteur de Chanel’ concealer before using the dual-head blush and highlighter brush (the white side is perfect for precision highlighting, the black for beautiful blush application) to apply the ‘La Palette Essentielle’.
This perfecting palette includes a bronzer to contour, a red blush, and a shimmery shade to highlight, so it’s amazing for sculpting and adding a healthy flush of color to your skin. This look is more about structured features, so focus on the bronzer rather than the blush.
Chanel’s couture beauty look is all about the eyes, with shimmery jade-green shadows and flecks of golden glitter bringing them to life. This was achieved by using a blend of the gorgeously green shade from the new ‘Splendeur et Audace’ palette with the ‘Ombre Première Eyeshadow in Titane’ along the eyelids. Next, use the ‘Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Mare-Chiaro’ to line your eyes before lightly dabbing flecks of gold glitter along your lower lash lines and on the inner corners of you eyes, which has the added beauty bonus of making them appear bigger and brighter!
Add a slick or two of the ‘Le Volume Revolution de Chanel’ mascara for long, luscious lashes. Finish by framing your face and define your brows by using light, upward strokes with the long-wear brow pencil before brushing them and setting them in place with a few strokes of the ‘Le Gel Sourcils’ brow gel.
Lips were kept au naturel to really let the eyes do all the talking. It’s as simple as coating your pout with the ‘Rouge Coco Baume’ to hydrate and moisturize before using a touch of the ‘Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur Mat in Discrétion’ for a subtle pop of natural pink .
