Despite the fundamental truth of life that there’s no such thing as perfect skin – even the most genetically gifted supermodel struggles with the occasional breakouts, enlarged pores, and fine lines – trying anything and everything that promises to approximate it is a given. While we fundamentally reject the “anti-aging” skincare trend, as it suggests that aging is a problem that must be combated instead of an inevitability that can be accepted with grace and managed with self-care, there is zero harm in wanting our skin to look its very best. Who wouldn’t?

Of course, the process of finding potions that actually work can be frustrating, with even the most expensive luxury products containing a lot of filler ingredients and only a small fraction of active ingredients. Thankfully for us, Dior has set out to change all of that and backed its mission statement with legitimate scientific research done in conjunction with the Université Pierre et Marie Curie. Dior’s careful, studied skincare innovations have resulted in a line called ‘Capture Youth’ that actually delays the aging process and is aimed at the 30-and-over crowd.

You’ve no doubt heard about a lot of age-delaying skincare products that promise to diminish free radicals and boost antioxidants, but what does that really mean? Free radicals are atoms that are highly reactive and, when they react negatively with certain cellular components, they can cause cell functions to die. This can dramatically impact your skin’s luminosity, texture, and elasticity, causing it to look dull, dry, wrinkled, and damaged. Antioxidants are the most effective way to fight free radicals and, therefore, fight skin damage.

Developed in partnership with the European Institute of Antioxidants, Dior used a new method called PAOT Technologies, which measures the oxidative and antioxidative activity in skin tissue. By studying these levels, the brand not only found that the skin’s antioxidant defense system weakens over time, but it also discovered a new extract called Iris Florentina, which enhances and fortifies said defense system. For that reason, Iris Florentina is a main ingredient in the ‘Capture Youth’ line. Each serum targets specific problems, and everything in the skincare line contains 85 percent all-natural ingredients – even the packaging is minimal and eco-friendly.

With tangible results at the core of Dior’s research and development, the ‘Capture Youth’ line aims to delay signs of aging before they start, with model Cara Delevingne leading the campaign as a visual representation of #SkincareGoals.
