We’ve (secretly) been ranking the stunning beauty looks from London Fashion Week and now we’ll say it: Temperley London is up there. A gorgeous palette of golds and bronze teamed with radiant skin and a red lip or two, it was sexy and chic. The combination was as classic as it was modern – hardly surprising seeing as it was Charlotte Tilbury’s creation.
“I worked with Alice to create a mesmerizing makeup look to perfectly complement the Temperley trailblazer,” reveals Tilbury. “Inspired by iconic film stars with a nod to the 1930s and 1970s, the look is all about mega-watt glowing skin with a smoky-bronze Hollywood eye and either a brilliantly bold matte orange-red or a fresh, balmy nude lip. I wanted the makeup look to enhance the model’s own natural beauty, using my new ‘Hollywood Flawless Filter’! We went mega-watt and models wore it at full volume giving a glossy, all-over superstar-lit glow!”
From the products Tilbury used backstage to how best to apply them, here’s everything you need to know about creating this look yourself.
First up is the important prep step to ensure your face is a flawless canvas on which to apply your makeup. Backstage, Tilbury used her iconic ‘Magic Cream’ to hydrate the face and neck before brightening, firming, and plumping the eye area with ‘Magic Eye Rescue’. Next, she applied her new ‘Hollywood Flawless Filter’ all over the face to give it a gorgeous glow and blur any imperfections. This was followed by her ‘The Retoucher’ concealer, which keeps pesky flaws and blemishes at bay.
To achieve that chiseled look and define features, Tilbury applied the ‘Hollywood Contour Wand’ along the jawline, down the nose, and along the cheekbones to shape before adding a dreamy hit of highlight with the ‘Hollywood Beauty Light Wand’. She used this on top of the cheekbones, taking it down towards the apple of the cheeks, down the center of the nose, and on the Cupid’s bow to create luminosity and radiance.
Tilbury created two different looks on the eyes. For the first, she applied ‘Eyes to Mesmerise’ in ‘Bette’ all over the eyelids, blending it upward towards the brow before taking it softly underneath the lash line with her ‘Eye Smudger Brush’. She then applied the ‘Hollywood Beauty Light Wand’ again, but this time to the inner corners of the eyes to brighten them up. For the second look, she took the same ‘Bette’ shade, but mixed it with the new ‘Eyes to Mesmerise in Star Gold’ (which will be available in May!) before applying it the same way as before. This time, she applied the ‘Bar of Gold’ to the inner corners of the eye for a little more drama.
For both looks, she added a soft eyeliner flick with the ‘Feline Flick in Panther’ before curling models’ lashes with the ‘Life Changing Lashes’ curler and applying the ‘Full Fat Lashes’ mascara to the top lashes for va-va-voom volume. To finish the eyes, she used a slick of ‘Lip Lustre in Ibiza Nights’ across the entire eyelid and brushed up brows with her ‘Legendary Brows’ before filling in any gaps with the ‘Brow Lift’.
There were also two different lip looks used to complete the beauty look. The first was all about a bright-matte red lip achieved by lining the lips with the ‘Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Savage Rose’ before filling them in with the ‘Hot Lips in Tell Laura’ lipstick. The second was simple and natural, with lips kept bare – just a subtle sweep of lip balm was used.
