When it comes to beauty icons, birthday girl Kate Moss always makes the list – and rightly so. Over the years, she has mastered the art of cool London-girl style and paved the way for the kind of effortless, understated beauty that we just can’t get enough of. From how to get her signature scruffy-chic locks to the products she swears by for supermodel skin, read on for the seven ultimate beauty rules to live by, according to Miss Moss.
Banish the Hairbrush
If there’s one beauty item that Moss doesn’t seem to own, it’s a hairbrush. The queen of bedhead hair, she has singlehandedly made I-woke-up-like-this hair cool and stylish whatever the occasion – and the red carpet is no exception. If you struggle to recreate her messy locks, then you’re in for a treat.
Celebrity hairstylist Sam McKnight, who happens to be Moss’ main man for creating that mussed-up mane, has released his own line of luxury hair products that includes the ‘Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist’. In a nutshell, it’s Kate Moss hair in a spray, giving you that “done, undone” look without even trying. That, plus a little backcombing, and you’ll be channeling your inner Moss in minutes.

Moss has made no secret of her love for East Asian skincare products, praising them for their skin-perfecting abilities. It’s hardly surprising seeing as Korean and Japanese brands have dominated the market for some time now, leading the way with their natural ingredients and pioneering technology.
She loves them so much, in fact, that she’s also the face of Japanese beauty brand Decorté, revealing, “I can honestly say that this is the best skincare I have ever used.” Hey, if it’s good enough for one of the world’s top supermodels, it’s good enough for us.

If there’s one thing Moss never does, it’s keep her makeup pristine and precise. Forget that Instagram idea of overly contoured skin and eye makeup that looks borderline fake (come on, people) because, if you want makeup à la Moss, it’s time to embrace being perfectly imperfect.
We’re talking smudged smoky eyes that look like they’ve been on for days teamed with super simple skin and (of course) bedhead hair – the perfect excuse to save some serious time on your makeup routine whilst looking like a true Londoner. You’re welcome.

Add Some Ice
When Moss revealed to The Telegraph that her biggest skin secret was dunking her head in a bowl of ice, there were thousands of freezing faces the world over as women took the literal plunge. It also actually works. “The ice plunge is the best trick,” said the model. “Fill a sink with ice cubes, cold water, and slices of cucumber and hold your face in for as long as you can. It instantly reduces puffiness and tightens up your skin.”
“Charlotte Tilbury got me started on sheet masks. She uses them on my face before makeup, but when I’m rushing in the morning, I don’t feel like I have enough time”, Moss revealed to Stylist. “For me, they’re more about relaxation. I use one when I have some spare time, usually on Sundays when I’m in bed watching TV”.
Sheet masks are an amazing way to load skin with nourishing ingredients when a facial or trip to the spa isn’t an option. Working in as little as 20-minutes, they double up as a quick pre-party fix or as an indulgent treatment when an afternoon with The Crown is calling your name. So, if you want superstar skin (and an excuse to put your feet up), mask up à la Moss.

Whether she’s grunge-ing it up with a biker jacket or donning a designer gown on the red carpet, one thing Moss always relies on to take her outfit from blah to beautiful is classic red lipstick. She’s such a fan that she even created her own lipstick line for Rimmel, with her pillar box shade of red becoming an instant best-seller. So remember, if in doubt, add red to that pout.

Roll with It
Jade has been used in Chinese beauty routines for centuries and is praised for its healing properties, which is why jade rollers have become a big thing in the beauty world and the likes of Miss Moss swear by them.
After celebrity makeup artist Val Garland used one to de-puff her face, Moss added a jade roller to her beauty arsenal to boost lymphatic drainage, eliminate toxins and excess fluids, and to cool and soothe her skin. For an extra beautifying boost, make like Moss and keep yours in the fridge. It feels so good when you’re hot and bothered.
