Last week, Karl Lagerfeld went back to his roots by presenting the Chanel Métiers d’Art show in his birthplace: Hamburg. Transforming the Elbphilharmonie opera house into a Chanel wonderland for the stunning show, he was driven by a nautical theme to pay tribute to the fact that Hamburg was once a bustling port.
A lot of the magic, however, took place backstage, where celebrity makeup artist Tom Pecheux and his team created a beautiful blue makeup look that focused on smoky eyes, natural skin, nude lips, and a subtle glow. Read on to discover the key Chanel beauty products that were used and how to get the look yourself.
Prep
The key to flawless, natural-looking skin lies in (properly) prepping your face before applying makeup. To clean your skin, apply ‘La Solution 10 de Chanel’ face cream, which soothes and smoothes even the most sensitive of skins. Next, brighten your eyes and reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles with the ‘Hydra Beauty Micro Gel Yeux’.
The formula contains antioxidants and active ingredients to treat the delicate eye area, helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines. Finish your prep with a light layer of the ‘Hydra Beauty Micro Sérum’, which contains camellia micro-droplets to deliver an intense hit of hydration.
Skin
Once your face has been fully prepped, use Chanel’s ‘Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation’ to do just what its name suggests: give your skin a healthy glow. Use your fingers – as opposed to a brush or sponge – to apply it for a more natural effect, and then conceal any blemishes and areas of discoloration with the ‘Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer’.
Using the dual-ended blush and highlighter brush (the white side is perfect for precision highlighting and the black for beautiful blush application), apply the ‘La Palette Essentielle’ to sculpt and add a healthy flush of color to your skin. It includes a bronzer to contour, a red blush, and a shimmery shade to strobe.
Eyes
Using light and upward strokes, define your brows with the long-wear brow pencil before brushing them and setting them in place with a few strokes of the ‘Le Gel Sourcils’ brow gel. This look is all about a smoky blue hue achieved by using the ‘Blue Jean’ eyeshadow all over the eye before taking the gray and silver shades from the ‘Affresco Les 9 Ombres’ palette to add depth.
Using the retractable dual-tip eyeshadow brush, dust the darker colors on the outer corners of your eyes and use a circular motion to gently blend. Sweep a little shadow under your eyes before adding dreamy definition with the waterproof eyeliners in ‘Marine’ and ‘Noir Intense’. A coat or two of the ‘Dimensions De Chanel’ mascara, and you’re good to go.

Lips
Lips were left glossy and nude to perfectly offset the blue eye makeup. Use the ‘Rouge Coco Baume’ to load lips with moisture before applying your color – this will even help it last longer, too. Use a touch of the ‘Rouge Allure Velvet in L’Aristocratica’ to leave your lips coated in a rich, nude shade before adding a high-shine finish with the ‘Rouge Coco Gloss in Aphrodite’. Don’t be fooled by its bright blue hue; it will just add a touch of brightness and a gorgeous glossy finish to complete your lip look.
