From fancy florals to unexpected delights, Savoir Flair rounds up the best new scents that you need to be spritzing this season.
Hermès ‘Twilly d’Hermès’
Inspired by the iconic Hermès ‘Twilly’ silk scarves and the creativity of the young women who wear them, perfumer Christine Nagel sought to capture a vibrant energy and spirit in this unique new scent. “It is with young women in mind, by observing their lives, that I created ‘Twilly d’Hermès’,” she explains. “Free, bold, connected, mischievous, and irreverent, they turn expectation on its head, swim against the tide, impose their own rhythm, and invent a brand new tempo.”
Transforming and twisting notes of ginger, sandalwood, and tuberose together to create a unique floral-oriental fragrance, it opens with a softly spicy kick and settles on the skin with a subtle flowery, slightly powdery smell that has a hint of warmth and fruitiness thanks to its woody base.
Jo Malone 'English Oak Colognes'
If you keep catching yourself gazing at that haze and humidity, dreaming of being in the fresh woodland air of the English countryside, then Jo Malone’s new colognes are for you. Inspired by the magic of an enchanted forest and the fabled oak tree, there are two stunning scents to choose from – and they’re both so good that we couldn’t pick just one.
‘English Oak & Hazelnut’ is an earthy, cedarwood-infused cologne with a slightly more masculine touch. It mixes green hazelnut and roasted oak together for a warm, but fresh, scent. Then there’s ‘English Oak & Redcurrant’, which sees redcurrant, rose, and roasted-oak absolute come together for a fruitier, subtly floral fragrance. In true Jo Malone style, they’re designed to be worn alone or layered together, so you can mix and match depending on your mood.
Prada ‘Les Infusions de Prada Rose’
As the result of a unique collaboration between Miuccia Prada and perfumer Daniela Andrier, this new addition to Prada’s ‘Les Infusions’ collection is pure perfume perfection. Inside the pretty pink bottle, you’ll discover a veritable bouquet – a light floral fragrance bursting with an array of roses including rose bulgare, turque, and pétale that are freshly picked first thing in the morning before being infused into water scented with mandarin, galbanum, and neroli. It’s light and oh-so-delicate, lightly scenting skin with the power of petals whilst boasting some seriously impressive staying power.
Dior ‘Miss Dior Eau de Parfum’
Feminine, floral, and utterly fabulous – meet the brand new, totally reinvented ‘Miss Dior Eau de Parfum’. Speaking of how he changed the original scent, Dior’s Perfume Creator François Demachy revealed, “I refined its florality to render it carnal and suggestive. It had to burst like that feeling of falling head over heels. A declaration of love to love!”
At its heart blooms a beautiful blend of Grasse and Damascus roses, which are enveloped in fresh notes of bergamot and given a hint of spice, courtesy of pink pepper. This is a fragrant declaration of love that you’re sure to fall for. You can also give back whilst smelling sublime as Dior Parfums will donate $1 to charitable movement WE for each Instagram post that uses the #diorlovechain hashtag.
Acqua Di Parma ‘Colonia Pura’
Whether you buy Acqua Di Parma’s new scent for your beau or to treat yourself, there’s one thing that we can guarantee: you’ll be fighting over the bottle. Not only is this cologne unisex and easily wearable for both men and women, it’s also seriously stylish, perfectly encapsulating the joy and vibrancy of Italian life.
Top notes of crisp and sunny bergamot combine with juicy orange and delicate petit grain, while alluring floral notes of narcissus and jasmine blend with spicy coriander at its heart. The base is made of warm and sophisticated notes of cedarwood, patchouli, and musk, creating the perfect masculine-meets-feminine fragrance.
Diptyque 'Vetyverio Eau de Parfum'
Diptyque’s dreamy new perfume centers around Haitian vetiver (and a rather big dose of it), which is grown for over a year and slowly distilled for over 24 hours before its precious oil is extracted. Although vetiver usually stars in men’s scents due to its powerful woodiness, Diptyque has completely reinvented it, blurring the lines between feminine and masculine. There’s zesty grapefruit to accentuate the scent’s natural freshness, Turkish rose to add a gentle floral touch and an unexpected element, and citrus and patchouli to bring out vetiver’s subtle spiciness. You won’t have smelt anything like it, but once you do, you’ll be hooked.
Ex Nihilo 'Musc Sublime Essence'
Ex Nihilo’s new perfume oils are bringing a whole new touch to the ritual of scent, and they’re the perfect way to personalize your perfume routine. Whether you wear them alone or layer them to boost the powers of your chosen scent, they are made of the noblest raw materials that have been carefully selected by the brand’s founders and perfumers to ensure each drop is intense, long-lasting, and downright luxurious.
We particularly love the ‘Musc’ essence, which is inspired by silky cashmere and contains clove, orange blossom, and patchouli to leave you feeling like you’ve been wrapped up in a soft cashmere sweater. Wear it alone or mix it with another scent (it works wonders with the Ex Nihilo ‘Cologne 352’ and ‘Rose Hubris’ creations) for a decadent olfactory experience.
Mugler 'Alien Musc Mystérieux'
Having created the original ‘Alien’ fragrance over ten years ago, Thierry Mugler has put a new spin on his best-selling scent with this new offering. Still keeping the signature of the original fragrance alive with notes of sambac jasmine, cashmeran wood, and trio of white musk, ‘Alien Musc Mystérieux’ brings the enchanting essence of the Orient to its gleaming, golden bottle. Mysterious musk, intoxicating vanilla, and a blend of spices have all been incorporated, each perfectly capturing the splendor and scent of faraway lands.
Tom Ford ‘Soleil di Positano’
“As John Steinbeck once said, ‘Positano is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.’ ‘Sole di Positano’ captures this dream-like beauty of the Italian coast,” says Tom Ford of the new addition to his Private Blend collection.
Transporting you straight to the shores of Positano with just a spritz, the perfume’s vibrant blend of Italian bergamot, bitter orange, lemon, and mandarin gleam are given texture and depth through ylang ylang, sandalwood, jasmine absolute, orange flower, green moss, and soft musks. The result is a classic but sensual scent that will give you summer-vacation vibes come fall and winter.
