The extensive skincare rituals of South Korean (SoKo) women have been all the rage for a while now, and with good reason: they actually work. Not only are their perfecting products bursting with some of the most cutting-edge technology and powerful natural ingredients, but Korean beauty brands have thought of everything. No, literally – everything.
Korean women don’t just splash some water on their faces, slap on a serum, and grab the nearest moisturizer they can find. They take the time and effort to give their skin the superstar treatment with a thorough ten-step routine. Yes, that’s right – ten steps. Don’t believe us? Read on…
The 10-Step SoKo Routine
Step 1: Remove makeup and cleanse with an oil cleanser
Step 2: Double cleanse with a water-based cleanser
Step 3: Exfoliate
Step 4: Tone
Step 5: Apply essence (a toner-meets-serum to hydrate and repair)
Step 6: Apply treatments (anything from serums and ampoules to specific targeted treatments)
Step 7: Apply sheet mask
Step 8: Apply eye cream
Step 9: Moisturize
Step 10: Apply SPF
Meet Soko Glam
“There’s no way I have time to organize all that” or “I’m not going to South Korea anytime soon” are no longer valid excuses, because Savoir Flair can reveal a website that does it all for you. Meet Soko Glam, the brainchild of Charlotte Cho, who – after moving from California to SoKo – sought to share the country’s skincare secrets with the world.
“I soon discovered that Koreans have a skin-first philosophy. They believe that skincare should be enjoyable and that it’s an investment in their overall well-being. My own experience with Korean skincare made me a firm believer in its benefits, and I was eager to share what I had learned,” she explains.
How Does It Work?
Not only does this clever website explain each skincare step in depth to educate and inspire, but it also creates your very own ten-step routine. You can determine which product for each step is best for you (there are currently 28 brands on offer) through filtering by concern or skin type, et voilà – you have all the products for your new routine sorted.
The Next Step
The only downside, unfortunately, is that Soko Glam doesn’t currently ship to the Middle East, but we can let you in on a little trick. You can use the website to curate your ultimate skincare regimen, and then shop all the products online at Desertcart and The BB Cream Girl.
You’re welcome.
