Are you an all-over spritzer, a pulse-point sprayer, or a mist-into-the-air-and-walk-through-your-fragrance kind of person? Well, whichever one you are, it’s time to totally rethink how you apply your fragrance because now it’s all about the brush. Yes, you read that right. Brushes are no longer solely reserved for applying your foundation or blending in your blush and are fast becoming the hot thing in the fragrance world.
“I always blend in my fragrance with a brush, never with my hands,” said Queen of Perfume Jo Malone exclusively to Savoir Flair in a recent interview. “Air can go through a brush, which means it dries the alcohol without burning any of the top notes. When you use your hands to rub scent, you’re rubbing away the top notes! I look at my body like a canvas. I’ll spray my scent all over and then use my paintbrush to brush it up into my body, scooping the scent up so it really dries it into the skin. I’m going to change the way people wear fragrance – soon, everyone will be doing it with a paintbrush!”
In fact, Malone has just launched her very own “fragrance paintbrushes”, which feature a new gel formula that holds the fragrance and dries in seconds. There are also the amazing new ‘Kabuki Perfumes’ by Byredo that are just what their name suggests – perfumes built into a kabuki brush.
Alternatively, you can simply grab your foundation brush and start scooping your scent. This means that your perfume passes through onto the brush, which you can then use to sweep straight onto your skin. Simple. So for longer-lasting perfume and to add a little fun to your fragrance ritual, it’s time to get brushing.
