Empowerment is an essential value for every woman, and it’s the central ingredient of ‘Good Girl’, the recently-relaunched fragrance from House of Herrera and its most successful to date. Supermodel Karlie Kloss is the muse behind the scent and, as she says, “Behind every good girl, there’s a great mother.” Taking inspiration from strong women and the way they empower each other, House of Herrera makes its boldest, most provocative statement with the perfume, creating a scent that celebrates women’s dualities – femininity with an untameable spirit.
In celebration of today being Mother’s Day, Carolina Herrera celebrates women’s empowerment and the way it’s transmitted from generation to generation. For that, the female forces behind ‘Good Girl’ – Karlie Kloss, Carolina Herrera, and Carolina Herrera de Báez – engage in conversation about women, motherhood, and the meaning of being a good girl in this day and age. Read on to discover what Mother’s Day means to these powerful, influential women with this exclusive interview on Savoir Flair.
Karlie Kloss (KK): Looking at both of you, it seems impossible to deny that behind every good girl, there’s a great mother.
Carolina Herrera (CH): Why would you say that, Karlie?
KK: The relationship you have is simultaneously rich and profound. There’s cooperation, happiness, acceptance, and so much love. Even in the midst of a tiny interview, the intense appreciation and devotion to one another shines through – [to Carolina Herrera da Baez] don’t you think?
Carolina Herrera de Baez (CHdB): I think you’re right, although our relationship has not always been like this!
KK: What do you mean? How’s your relationship different now?
It seems impossible to deny that behind every good girl, there’s a great mother.
CHdB: To me, Carolina Herrera was first and foremost my mom, not a fashion icon, as I later realized – the one who disciplined us when she had to, the one who taught us. I’ve always taken for granted her alegría de vivir and personal style. She has this superpower to make normal look beautiful, and strong look invincible.
CH: Wow, now I’m impressed!
CHdB: What can I say? I’ve learned how to be good and sometimes bad from your example.
CH: I’m glad you say that. I think it’s as important to know how to be a good girl, and when and how to be a little naughty. Sometimes rules are there just to be bent a little bit.

KK: Do you have special plans for Mother’s Day?
CH: For me, Mother’s Day is every day. I have four daughters, and they don’t give me a day off!
CHdB: [To KK] I’ve heard her say that my whole life.
CH: For any mom, Mother’s Day is every day, but I think it’s important for people to find time to spend with their mothers, even if it’s only once a year.
KK: We all should appreciate motherhood, our mothers, and mother figures more. And although some might think Mother’s Day is a recent holiday, its origins date back to ancient Greece and Rome.
CHdB: How’s it in your case, Karlie? How’s the relationship with your mother?
KK: I’ve always been hugely influenced by my mother. She’s the strongest and most passionate woman in my life. Me and my sisters, we all are who we are because of her.
CHdB: Is she a good girl?
KK: My mother is unquestionably a good girl – she’s empowered, confident, and ladylike, but she also has a wild side. I’ve heard so many stories about that naughty girl. But she’s very much a good girl, like your mom.
CHdB: I think you’re right, Karlie. [Looking at CH] She’s definitely a mischievous good girl who knows how to enjoy herself.
CH: Well, as you both say, “It’s so good to be bad.”
