Chanel’s Spring 2017 Couture show was all about gorgeous, pure, romantic femininity – from the breathtaking metallic gowns to the feather-fringed frocks and, of course, the stunning beauty look. Bold, bright shades were banished and, in their place, we saw creamy nudes, minimal makeup, radiant skin, and a touch of gleaming glitter, all of which came together to make for breathtaking makeup moments. Go backstage with these behind-the-scenes images shared exclusively with Savoir Flair and discover the key products and techniques used so you can recreate this sublime springtime look yourself.
This look was all about dewy and glowing skin, with models looking effortlessly beautiful as they walked the runway. To achieve a flawless face yourself, unify your skin by using the ‘Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation’ with Chanel’s ‘N°6 Foundation Brush’. You can also use your fingers for a slightly subtler effect. Cover imperfections and dark circles with the ‘Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer’ and use the ‘Éclat Lumière’ to brighten the undereye area.
Next, add structure to your face by contouring and sculpting the cheeks. The ‘Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Color’ powder gives just the right amount of color whilst keeping things natural. Add a hint of flush with a dusting of the powder blush in ‘Elégance’ across the cheekbones, brushing and blending it outward with the blush brush in ‘N°4’.
Start by brushing and setting your brows with the ‘La Palette Sourcils de Chanel’ brow palette. You want to add just a little definition to your natural brows and keep them looking full and natural. Next, curl your lashes and leave them bare – there’s no mascara required for this look. Instead, all you need to do is use the lightest shade from the ‘Codes Élégants’ eyeshadow palette all over your lids, adding just a touch on the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them and make them look bigger. Finally, sweep it across the top of your cheekbones to add a gorgeous highlight before applying loose silver glitter to the top of your cheekbones and your brow bone for an ethereal feel.
At the show, lips were given a slightly stained look thanks to the ‘Rouge Allure Velvet in Libre’. To recreate this, apply the lipstick all over your lips before blotting away any excess. You can even apply it by dabbing it on with your finger tip, which will further emphasize that stained effect.
In keeping with the natural and minimalist makeup look, nails were colored with a stunning, springtime nude shade. Prepare your nails with the ‘La Base’ base coat (it contains vitamin E and argan oil to smooth and protect) before applying the ‘Les Vernis Longwear Nail Color in Organdi’. Set the polish with ‘Le Gel Coat’ et voilà – your Chanel Couture beauty look is complete.
