Successful people around the world have their morning routines down to a fine art. So just how does Nathalie Trad, the highly accomplished Lebanese accessories designer, start her day? Savoir Flair gets a peek into her morning rituals, from the beauty products she swears by to her favorite breakfast choices.

My alarm clock goes off at a different time every morning – I don’t have a scheduled routine, and no two days are ever alike! My wake-up time varies depending on what I have going on during that particular day as well as if I have any personal activities (Pilates, gym, or some laps in the pool mostly) or errands to run before work. Once I’m at the office, it’s so difficult for me to leave at a decent hour, so I try to get as much done in the morning as possible or even just take some time to relax! So I would say I wake up anytime between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m.

I have a glass of warm water with lemon and ginger first thing every morning, come rain or shine, followed by a shot of Nespresso coffee. If I have some extra time, I’ll have a couple of poached eggs and toast or avocado and toast, but if not, I’ll grab a banana on my way out for when hunger really sets in at 11 a.m.!

I used to pick my phone up off the bedside table and immediately check my e-mails as soon as I opened my eyes. However, as part of my New Year’s resolutions, I am determined to kick that habit! For the past few weeks, I have made it a point to wake up slowly, have a chat with my husband, play some music on our record player, and just be before the hectic day starts.

When I am ready to pick up my phone, I will normally have a quick browse through my e-mails, flagging anything urgent, before briefly checking my social-media channels and WhatsApp messages. I then read headlines on The New York Times, Reuters, and The Business of Fashion and bookmark any articles I want to read later during the day.

We have collected some beautiful LPs over the years, which I love listening to in the morning. What I choose really depends on my mood that day and the energy levels of that morning. I love listening to some Otis Redding, Dusty Springfield, Louis Armstrong, or Fleetwood Mac on a slow morning and, on others, I’ll put on some Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, or Bob Dylan. It’s always good to mix it up. Sometimes, the morning music gets the best of me and I can be found shamelessly dancing around!

I love to shower before bed as it really puts me in relaxation mode and helps me switch off, but on days when I exercise, I shower in the morning. I am loyal to my Kérastase ‘Bain Fluidealiste’ shampoo and ‘Fondant Fluidealiste’ conditioner – they work wonders for me. I also use the ‘Maskeratine’ treatment once a week, which leaves my hair feeling supple and detangled and gives it a nice shine.

My beauty routine is generally fairly easy and does not require much time at all. It normally consists of a hydrating body moisturizer from Lubriderm and a simple skincare routine. I cleanse my face with the Mesoestetic ‘Facial Gel Cleanser’ and then use the Mesoestetic ‘Hydratonic’ to revive my skin, before finishing off with the ‘Hydra-Vital Factor K’ moisturizing cream.

When it comes to makeup, my go-to products are the Yves Saint Laurent ‘Touche Éclat’ highlighter around my eyes, a quick swish of Bobbi Brown bronzer, and Chanel ‘Le Volume de Chanel’ mascara. I am then ready to go!

I aim to be at the office between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., so I normally leave home 15 minutes before I need to be there. I’m lucky that I live very close by. I usually prepare for the day ahead when I’m wrapping up work the night before. I try to leave my mornings at home as stress-free as possible.
