Saudi TV presenter and media personality Sara Murad knows a thing or two about beauty. Used to cameras, bright lights, and having to look flawless from morning to night, she’s also a hard-working mother who has to juggle her time between work and home, squeezing in precious minutes in between to look after her skin, hair, and body.
“Being a mom has changed everything. When I first had my daughter, I didn’t take care of myself very well. I gained weight and it got me really down. But with the support of my family and friends, I got myself out of it,” Murad reveals to Savoir Flair whilst sifting through her favorite skincare products on our Beauty Routine shoot. “My advice to all new moms is to take care of yourself. It’s not selfish! It’s okay to give time to yourself, to treat yourself to a bubble bath once in a while. These little things will keep you going, make you happier, and, in turn, make you a better parent to your child.”

Thanks to her genuine, kind, but also driven personality, Murad was recently chosen to be the first-ever Middle Eastern ambassador for cult French beauty brand Nuxe. An advocate for and perfect example of natural beauty, she represents the carefree but strong Nuxe woman.
“I have a very special relationship with my grandmother, and I’ve always admired how she applies her makeup and looks after her skin and hair. She always wears red lipstick, which makes her stand out, and she always used to put it on me whenever I saw her as a child. She has really inspired how I look after myself.” Discover more of Murad’s beauty secrets, products, and rituals as Savoir Flair delves into her beauty bag in the gallery below.
“Whenever I’m in a hurry and can’t do my full five-step routine, which happens a lot as I’m a mom, these are my go-to heroes. Most mornings, I wash my face with the Nuxe ‘Rêve de Miel’ honey face wash. It smells amazing! I then use the ‘Crème Fraîche de Beauté Light’ cream as it moisturizes my skin for 24 hours.
I like to treat myself to a massage or spa experience when I can, but I’m always on the go, so I’d rather catch up on sleep if I can.”
“These are the products I add to my routine when I’m not rushed! I’ll use the honey wash and then the ‘Nuxellence Éclat’ as a base. It’s a fluid product, so it’s really light. It also makes your anti-aging cream more effective, so it’s best to use on skin first. The ‘Nirvanesque Eye Contour’ is amazing as it contains caffeine to get rid of those undereye bags. Everyone suffers from dark circles or puffiness, especially if you’re not sleeping properly! I’m still in my 20s, but it’s never too early to use an anti-aging cream to prevent fine lines and having to resort to things like Botox and fillers, so I use the ‘Smoothing Cream’ from the ‘Nirvanesque’ range.”
“I have such a hectic schedule and don’t get a lot of sleep, so my nighttime routine is important. I use the same honey face wash at night after I take off my makeup; it makes my skin feel so clean before bed. I then use the ‘Nuxellence Detox’, which does exactly what it says on the tin. When I’m not feeling too lazy, I use the Nuxe ‘White Night Cream’ so I wake up looking bright and totally refreshed!
Sleep is so important, not just for your skin but also your mood and positivity. I have to be under the spotlight a lot, so I need to look fresh and radiant. The pressure of the cameras can get a bit much, so using creams that really work helps you feel good about yourself.”
“Whenever I have a shoot, I use this ‘HD Foundation’ from Make Up For Ever. I love that it’s matte, and it’s the perfect shade for me. It has a lovely texture and sinks really fast into the skin. If I’m getting ready for a casual day out, I’ll use the Nuxe ‘DD Cream’ instead as it hydrates my skin whilst giving it a hint of color and subtle coverage.
I then use this NARS ‘Radiant Creamy Concealer’ that isn’t drying, so it doesn’t crease and form those annoying lines. Next, I use the Gucci ‘Finishing Powder’ over my foundation to really make my skin look flawless. Sometimes, I use it alone with no foundation or over the DD cream. It’s a great setting powder.
Makeup trends are definitely moving towards the more natural, glowy look, so I add this NARS highlighting and sculpting stick for a golden shimmer at night.”
“I use this eye palette from ZOELA every single day, especially the ‘Freshly Toasted’ shade. It’s great to blend with brown hues for a nighttime look, or alongside a beautiful eyeliner during the day. I do a lot of daytime shoots, so my day makeup is almost the same as my night makeup. On days when I wear less makeup, I just use something very light, like the ‘Sweet End’ shade with a touch of brown and an eyeliner to make my eyes pop. I never wear crazy colors on my eyes – I’m all about brown shades, sometimes gold. These tones are better on my skin and I prefer the more natural colors, except at night, when I might smoke my eye makeup out.
I’m lucky to have rather long lashes, but this Too Faced mascara really thickens them. I especially love it at night, when I really want maximum effect – I’ll end up using three coats! I used to wear false lashes, but I don’t need to anymore because this mascara really does the job.
For me, eyeliner is such a tricky job – I don’t think many girls can get both eyes to look exactly the same! This Kat Von D liner has such a thin point and is very firm, so it’s like drawing with a marker pen and is much easier to use.”
“The amazing thing about this Giorgio Armani lip gloss is that it gives a matte effect but keeps your lips very moist. Unlike other matte products, which make your lips feel really dry, this one keeps them super soft. I love the shade, and I use it every day. I normally go light on my lips and dark on my eyes, but I’ll sometimes go for a red lipstick – depending on whether or not I want the attention!”
“I can never wear my hair naturally because I always have an event or shoot or something going on. I definitely got this from my mom and grandmother; we always do our hair! If I’m in a rush, I’ll at least do the front sections or bangs and keep the rest natural.
The change of weather in the UAE, going from air conditioning inside to the humidity outside, the heat of summer, and the damaging tap water can really take a toll on your hair, so I’ve been using the Dove ‘Dry Oil’. It doesn’t make your hair oily, as most people might think! It keeps my hair hydrated, kills all that frizz, and helps bring my waves together as I wear my hair wavy.
I have two hairspray products that I use. The L’Oréal ‘Elnett Hairspray’ is for when I have a gala dinner or need a strong-hold effect, whereas the Dove ‘Oxygen & Moisture Root Lift Spray’ gives a much more natural finish, so I spray it for volume before I style my hair.
Most of the time, I do my hair myself, but when I need a color touch-up or a cut, I go to Jacques at the Jacques La Coupe Salon.”
“I’m from Saudi Arabia, where scent is really important, and – like with clothes – I wear different perfumes for different occasions. During the day, I keep things light and fresh, so the Nuxe perfume is my go-to for daytime and casual outings. I wear Chopard’s ‘Rose Malaki’ at night when I’m out with friends or off to a big gala dinner.
I usually stick to the same perfumes, but occasionally, like during Eid or Ramadan, I use more of the ouds and bukhoors – but that’s more for the cultural aspect.”
“I love the Nuxe ‘Rêve de Miel’ range because it contains honey, and you know what they say in the Middle East: honey can be used for anything! The hand cream is amazing for traveling as the size is perfect and your hands stay hydrated all the time. I love using the lip balm after a long day of wearing lipstick as it makes my lips super soft and smooth. The foot cream is particularly great in the summer when I wear more slip-ons and open-toe shoes. I love applying it at night, putting some socks on, and waking up to amazingly soft feet.”
“This oil is awesome. It’s absorbed so easily by the skin, so you don’t get that greasy feeling. It also smells so good. You can use it on your body, your hair, and your face. A layer of it under foundation or DD cream gives you that glowing, dewy look. It’s great for traveling because it does everything! Every year, there’s a limited-edition bottle to celebrate this cult product. 2016’s theme was Paris, so this bottle is beautifully adorned with iconic Parisian buildings.”
“I love tanning and being in the sun – I used to tan much more, but can’t find much time for it anymore. When I’m on the beach, I’m running around after my daughter! The problem with tanning is it can lead to freckles, which may look cute when you’re younger, but they’ll get bigger and you’ll end up with dark spots and pigmentation ten years down the line. This cream prevents that whilst still helping you get the tan you want. It’s not greasy at all; it has a really light texture, which is great in the sun.”
