Earlier this month, the Ritz Paris was transformed into a Chanel wonderland for the stunning 2017 Métiers d’Art show, paying homage to Coco Chanel herself, who resided in the hotel for nearly 30 years. The likes of Cara Delevingne, Sofia Richie, and Lily-Rose Depp walked the runway in dazzling evening dresses, embellished jackets, and sparkling twinsets to celebrate the elegance and sprit of Parisian glamour.
A lot of the magic, however, took place backstage, where celebrity makeup artist Tom Pecheux and his team created a fresh, feminine, and modern makeup look that focused on flicks of white eyeliner, natural skin, bright lips, and a subtle glow. Read on to discover the key Chanel beauty products that were used and how to get the look yourself.
The key to flawless, natural-looking skin lies in (properly) prepping your face before applying your makeup. To clean your skin, apply ‘La Solution 10 de Chanel’ face cream, which soothes and smoothes even the most sensitive of skins. Next, brighten your eyes and reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles with the ‘Hydra Beauty Micro Gel Yeux’ – it contains antioxidants and active ingredients to treat the delicate eye area, helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines.
Once your face has been fully prepped, use Chanel’s ‘Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation’ to do just what its name suggests – give your skin a gorgeous, healthy glow. Use your fingers to apply it, as opposed to a brush or sponge, for a more natural effect. Conceal any blemishes and areas of discoloration, then use the ‘Éclat Lumière Highlighter Face Pen’ to brighten the under-eye area and add a subtle highlight along the top of your cheekbones, your brow bones, down the center of your nose, and on your Cupid’s bow. A dusting of the ‘Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder’ over your entire face and a pop of the blush in ‘Coco Code’ on the apples of your cheeks will ensure your skin looks flawless with a fabulous, natural flush.
Forget your usual black liner because, for a fresher and more modern look, it’s all about white. Backstage, Pecheux used a white-chalk powder to perfect the models’ peepers, but the white shade from Chanel’s eyeshadow palette in ‘Tissé Smoky’ works just as well. Strengthen and saturate the color by using a wet brush to sweep the white shadow over your upper lash line before brushing and grooming your brows to perfectly frame your face.
Berry hues transformed lips into bright, beautiful smiles, with shades varying from muted mulberries to rich raspberries. Use the ‘Rouge Coco Baume’ to load lips with moisture before applying your chosen color – it will even help the color last longer, too. Go for the ‘Rouge Allure Lip Ink in Amoureux’ for a less intense look or choose the red-pink ‘Séduisant’ shade to really make your pout pop.
