Brazilian bombshell and Victoria’s Secret Angel Iza Goulart turns 32 today and, in honor of her birthday, Savoir Flair decided to find out just how the supermodel stays in such amazing shape. After a little harmless Insta-stalking, we’re uncovering a few of her top tricks, below.
Boasting a body worthy of an Olympic medal, Goulart is always posting pics of her workouts, so we know she likes to mix things up. The one thing that she does practise regularly, however, is Pilates – reformer Pilates, to be exact, which is far more hardcore than the mat version. Amazing at sculpting and lengthening the muscles, reformer Pilates strengthens and tones with the help of a machine that looks frighteningly similar to a medieval torture device. This “reformer” machine, which isn’t really as scary as it looks, uses core strength and balance to get you into supermodel shape. Stand Up Paddle Boarding
Stand Up Paddle Boarding (a.k.a. SUP) is the ultimate way to challenge your core, especially if you – like Goulart – practice your yoga poses while balancing on your board. Somewhere between surfing, kayaking, and some serious balancing, SUP does it all whilst remaining low in impact, which means it puts less potentially damaging tension on your joints and ligaments. Every part of your body will feel the burn, from your bottom to your abs, as you de-stress and inject some fun into your fitness routine. Plus, you can work on your tan to get a glow golden enough to rival that of this Brazilian beauty.
With all that working out, it’s hardly surprising that Goulart’s beverage of choice is coconut water. Low in calories, fat free, and subtly sweet in taste, we like to think of coconut water as nature’s Gatorade. Rich in minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and electrolytes, it’s the perfect post-gym drink to rehydrate from the inside out and replenish all the essential salts you’ve lost during your workout.
Massages – and Lots of Them
Unwind, de-stress, and treat your muscles to some TLC with a relaxing massage. One of Goulart’s go-tos when it comes to taking a breather (she’s often posting pics from her massage bed), deep-tissue treatments are a great way to complement your workout routine. Research shows that inflammation can be significantly reduced after just ten minutes of massaging, which, in turn, helps your body recover quicker. Not to mention, they can help with everything from lowering stress levels and aiding sleep to easing muscle tension and boosting immunity – all the things you need to stay fighting fit like Goulart herself.
