“The woman is the most perfect doll that I have dressed with delight and admiration.”– Karl Lagerfeld
The most popular products backstage at Chanel’s Fall 2016 Couture show were, without a doubt, liner, mascara, big false lashes, and a lot of hairspray. Sending an army of living dolls to walk the runway, beauty legends Sam McNight and Tom Pecheux came together to create an elegant yet slightly eerie beauty look that focused on huge, loud lashes and big bouffant hairdos piled high on heads like hats made of curls.
McNight’s self-proclaimed “curly girls” took the idea of big hair to whole new heights. Their tightly curled, fluffy locks became veritable structures of strands, reaching up towards the sky whilst being held in place by Chanel’s signature black bow headbands.
Skin was kept simple with just a flush of blush and a pop of peachy pink on pouts, leaving the eyes to do all the talking. Thickly shaped falsies used on both the top and bottom lashes guaranteed they stood out. Framed with thick black liner that contrasted against a subtle, white-washed graphic shape on the lids, the makeup had both a modern and classic feel to perfectly complement the collection.
Fall 2016 makeup trend prediction? It’s time to get dolled up.
