If you’ve found that within an hour of having your hair blow-dried to perfection, you’ve gone back to having limp and lifeless locks, then these tips are perfect for you. Read on to discover five easy and practical ways to make your blow-dry last longer, no matter what Mother Nature (read: Dubai humidity) brings your way.
Wash Your Hair Twice
One thing that always helps your blow-dry last is having very clean hair. When you wash your locks, shampoo twice and try using a clarifying shampoo to thoroughly cleanse the scalp.
Turn Upside Down
To add some volume and give your hair an extra “oomph”, simply tip your head upside down when you’re drying it. This adds lift to your roots whilst increasing volume and definition. To make sure that it holds, keep your hair upside down and lightly spray it with hairspray before tipping it back up again. Et voilà – va-va-voom volume in one easy step.
Cool Off
Finishing with a blast of cold air (cool settings are found on almost all hairdryers) helps to seal the hair cuticles and prevent frizz disasters later on, ensuring your blow-dry stays looking perfect for longer.
Sleep on Silk
If “bedhead” is the bane of your blow-dries, then you need to invest in a silk pillowcase. The smooth surface allows hair to slide without rubbing, keeping it in pristine condition whilst preventing breakages and split ends.
Refresh
To ensure that your blow-dry lasts, it’s imperative you do little refreshers in between washes. A dry shampoo is the perfect product for this, as it removes excess oils and residue while giving extra lift to the roots. You can get away with only doing this to the front part of you hair (especially if you have bangs or a fringe), making it the perfect blow-dry trick. Click here for more dry-shampoo tips.
