Healthy, radiant, and glowing skin is (always) in, so Savoir Flair turned to Cecile Debievre, Executive Vice President for luxury skincare brand Nuxe, to tap her expertise on how to get the glow. From how you should be cleansing to what you should be eating, read on for eight simple tips that will have you gorgeously glowing in no time.
Don't Skip the Skincare
Unfortunately, lots of women are just concerned with their outer appearance, not focusing on what actually happens inside. There’s this idea that if you use a good foundation and have a good “canvas”, you don’t need to treat skin from the inside. If you do wear a lot of makeup every day, there is a slight advantage as it does help protect the skin from external aggressors, but what’s important is to treat your skin from within. Apply your serum, eye cream, and moisturizer, and then use any makeup you want. It’s not bad for your skin so long as you’re using the right skincare products as that’s what will give you the natural glow.
Cleansing is the first and most important thing. I recommend using a cleansing foam in the morning to remove the sebum that’s produced at night, followed by a toning lotion to smooth and soften, and then ‘Nuxellance Éclat’ to recharge your skin with energy as skin has to fight against air conditioning and pollution in the UAE. Finish by using a moisturizing cream.
Top Tip: If you use ‘Nuxellance’ before your moisturizer, you’re increasing the efficiency of the cream you’re using afterwards!

Sadly, the sun can dull skin due to damage, so make sure you use an SPF and UV protection. The big mistake that people make is thinking that they can use an SPF100, which is of no use, and that they don’t need to reapply. Using an SPF of 30, or 50 max, is more than enough – just reapply! (Read more about common SPF myths here). You also don’t need to use an SPF all the time, just when you’ll be exposed to the sun because most sun-protection products contain chemical filters, so give your skin a break when you’re not in the sun.
In the UAE’s environment, I recommend using an exfoliator very regularly, ideally twice a week. Scrubbing away dead cells helps skin to renew itself. Here, many women think that they have good skin hydration because skin is generally oilier due to the weather. This is not true! Just because you have oily skin, doesn’t mean it’s hydrated. After you exfoliate, use a hydrating mask to put the moisture back into your skin.
If you don’t have time to do this twice a week, set some time aside on the weekend to exfoliate and relax with a mask. Using a hydrating serum every day also works wonders. You will really feel and see the immediate effect on your skin, and I bet people will tell you that you look “fresh and rested” because you’ll have the glow!
Removing makeup at night is key. I also highly recommend using ‘Nuxellance Detox’ to increase the natural system of skin detoxification. It’s very important that this process works well at night – sometimes, when your skin has undergone too much stress during the day, it doesn’t work at all. This is the best way to regenerate your skin and make it able to fight against free radicals and pollution to give you a glow.

For glowing, radiant skin, try to use products containing porcelain rose – it’s a beautiful flower. We have integrated it into our brightening ‘Nuxe White’ range because it has a huge effect on skin microcirculation and oxygenation. It really gives your skin a gorgeous glow! I think using natural products is key because of their performance – there’s nothing more powerful than nature.
Also, the fact that they’re natural means they don’t contain chemicals that block your pores or prevent your skin from breathing properly. Being in harmony with your skin cells through natural ingredients is very important.
Food also plays a huge role in getting a glow, and I really believe you should eat food that’s in season to keep in harmony with nature. In the UAE, you’re eating a lot of imported food that’s not in season, but there are more and more local, organic vegetables now available, so try and look out for those. Eat lots of foods containing vitamins C and E, as they’re wonderful for the skin, and are found naturally in fresh fruits and vegetables.
Studies are now showing that pollution causes two things: more pigmentation disorders and more aging problems (because pollution attacks collagen). So for dark spots and pigmentation, treat your skin softly. Try the ‘Nuxe White’ range; it contains white flowers and vitamin C to lighten and brighten. Use it all over your skin, not just on the problem areas, to reduce dark spots and get back your glow.
