Are Your Period Products Toxic?

Let's redefine period care, one cycle at a time.

article @LEAP.PERIODS

It’s almost comical that period products explicitly created for women contain hazardous and unregulated toxic chemicals that can cause cancers solely affecting women (re: breast or cervical cancer). Dangerous chemicals in products such as sanitary pads, tampons, wipes, and douches include carcinogens, reproductive toxins, endocrine disruptors, and allergens. But the scary part is that these products are used on vaginal tissue – one of the most absorbent areas of skin – which means all that is unholy is quickly taken into the woman’s body.

Not to mention how the packaging, applicators, and products themselves are harmful to the environment.

So when our editors discovered Leap Periods, a Kuwaiti brand that creates “eco-conscious, cute, comfortable, and clean” period products, we simply had to share. Its innovations are consciously made, striving to be as ‘green’ as they possibly can be by using environmentally friendly and sustainable materials that are safe for the body and the planet.

Moreover, the product aims to reduce its carbon footprint by shipping in bulk at the start of the month, implementing a recycling program for all recyclable items, and providing options for consumers to donate a little extra to offset their carbon emissions from delivery.

They make period products “look good, feel good, and do good” one cycle at a time, and we are absolutely here for that.
