Burberry Prorsum Resort 2014 Collection

Burberry Prorsum’s resplendent Resort 2014 collection revolved around the idea of the girl-next-door, but Ava Smith and Charlotte Wiggins, who modeled the collection, are anything but. The message holds in the sweetness of the details, but there is a warm sensuality pulsing through the presentation that addresses a more mature version of that girl-next-door; she’s grown-up now. This comes across in the tight, lean lines of the silhouette, which hug the curves of the body like saran wrap. Lace and crochet midi-length skirts allow ample peeks at the flesh, and backless evening gowns crisscrossed by straps are another venue for body-conscious display.

Juxtaposing girlish charm and chic, Burberry gives women that rarefied crossroads in fashion where we are able to step into clothing that represents a more total view of what it means to be a woman. Instead of choosing one or the other, Burberry Prorsum Resort 2014 allows for both. To breathe life into this idea, Christopher Bailey uses bows, jeweled brooches, colorful metallic clutches, and brocade touches. Statement coats, slim trenches, and slinky separates make daywear dressing a delight, while curvaceous, classic dresses are destined to become eveningwear staples the world over. A delicate, summery palette of mint, lilac, lemon, and salmon is balanced by heavier colors like black, navy, and forest green. This is a clear example of a logical, stylish, highbrow collection that presents a surfeit of choices for the discerning buyer – meaning Burberry nails its niche once again.
