Paris Fashion Week Coverage: Louis Vuitton Fall 2013

Step into the twilight dream hotel that is the Louis Vuitton runway show for Fall/Winter 2013 and witness a spectacular, delicious scene unfold before your eyes. This season, Marc Jacobs treats the audience like the voyeurs he secretly believes we all are, spreading a 50-room hotel crosswalk in front of us as we watch models tiptoeing quietly from their rooms. Whatever clandestine meet-up that had transpired only moments before could only be guessed at. This provocative display was fleshed out with a boudoir-inspired collection that puts the 50s pin-up girl in her most alluring environment.

Truth be told, we can’t wait to get our hands on these pastel, romantic pieces next season. Fashion that’s this delicious and cozy is an invitation to splurge. Silky pajama-like separates, oversized soft fur robes and velvet slip dresses scattered with blossom prints demand to not only be touched, but to be worn. Jacobs also offered us a peek at sexy lace lingerie, sometimes pairing it with wool coats that glittered with sparkly shellac around the hem. His eveningwear was just as relaxed, but still gorgeous. Glittering gowns trimmed with fur at the neckline, hemline, and cuffs made a decadent but easy statement. At the end of the show, Jacobs emerges in bright printed pajamas, confessing later backstage that he’d practically been living in them for months. That statement clarifies where his mind was at in the creation of this collection, and for what it’s worth, may he stay forever pajama-clad.
