The Chloé Spring/Summer 2013 collection achieves something rather extraordinary: it ties together nearly every dominant Paris Fashion Week trend in one go. Either Clare Waight Keller has been consulting a sartorial soothsayer, or she’s got her finger so firmly on the pulse of fashion that her designs come off as nearly prescient. Either way, she knocked this collection out of the park. In fact, good luck ever trying to find the ball. There were cropped jackets, sheer tops, undulating ruffle accents, loose silhouettes, one-shoulder dresses, asymmetrical cuts, geometric shapes, prints, basket-weave overlays, stripes, and more. She nails exactly where fashion is headed for Spring/Summer 2013, and does it all with graceful tailoring and a rich, beautiful palette of navy blues, saffron yellows, shimmery golds, lavenders, and even blush pinks. One pair of trousers in particular elicited gasps and Instagram snaps from the audience: a pair of saffron ankle-cropped trousers with one plain leg and the other completely covered in 3-D flower appliques. This collection blends everything we want to buy for next season and unites it all under the singular Chloé banner for a feat that is unlikely to be repeated again.
