Partyphiles: June 2012

The biggest fashion parties around were concentrated almost entirely on the tiny island of Manhattan this month. On June 6th, socialites, celebrities, and tastemakers were forced to choose between the sophistication of the 2012 Whitney Art Party and Auction and the Chanel Little Black Jacket Event.

The former hosted the likes of Kate Bosworth, Chuck Close, and Tinsley Mortimer and featured a live performance by James Franco and artist Kalup Linzy. The annual Whitney Art Party works to raise money for the Whitney Independent Study Program by way of a silent auction and sponsorship by Theory and Saks Fifth Avenue.

The Chanel Little Black Jacket Event allowed celebrities, models, and other fashion luminaries to take a sneak peek at their exhibit of 113 photos featuring many famous faces (including Dubai’s very own Sama and Haya Abu Khadra) wearing the Chanel “Little Black Jacket”. The exhibit was later opened to the public on June 8th. Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld played host to the event at Swiss Institute in Manhattan.

On June 19th, Coach gathered its famous fans and followers at the High Line public party on the West Side for a posh soirée. They transformed High Line into a carnival replete with jugglers, fortunetellers, and magicians. Stylish stars like Maggie Gyllenhaal and Dianna Agron gathered to mingle and fawn over Coach’s latest collections and enjoy a huge selection of giveaways and prizes.
